Narcotics Eviction & Trespass Affidavit Programs
Some Manhattan buildings can be centers of criminal activity. For example, drug buyers and sellers can take control of the public areas of apartment buildings, use private apartments to stash and sell drugs and commit other crimes, and use threats of violence to intimidate law-abiding tenants from notifying the authorities. In order to solve this problem, the New York County District Attorney's Office created the Trespass Affidavit Program and Commercial Trespass Affidavit Program, both of which are administered by the Community Affairs Unit, and the Narcotics Eviction Program, which the Community Affairs Unit operates in coordination with the Special Litigation Bureau. These programs are designed to help landlords and law-abiding tenants rid their buildings of drug dealers and other criminals, and are valuable tools for helping law enforcement reduce crime in residential and commercial buildings.
