Students from Barnard College Visit the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office
On Thursday, January12, 2012, Assistant District Attorney’s from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Special Prosecutions Bureau joined Wendy Chavez Tchagoue of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office’s Community Affairs Unit to conduct a tour of the Courts for students from Barnard College.
The purpose of the tour was to discuss the Criminal Justice System. Students were participants in the Barnard College Emerging Leaders Program, a selective and competitive program that provides future leaders with key resources, exposure and contacts to prepare them for effective leadership.
The Assistant District Attorneys informed the students about the arrest to sentencing process. Students also watched cases being arraigned and they observed a trial in progress at Manhattan Criminal Court.
