When is the deadline to submit my application?
We begin accepting applications from 2Ls on November 1st. 1Ls may begin to submit applications on December 1st. All submissions must be received by December 31st.

What is a complete application?
To apply to our office, please mail a resume, cover letter, and unofficial law school transcript.

What if I do not have a transcript or grades available by the deadline of December 31st?
We ask that you send in a course list and update your application with your transcript as soon as possible.

How soon can I expect to hear from the Legal Hiring Unit?
Interviewing will begin in January and we make offers on a rolling basis. There is no exact time frame in the application/interview process; however, our office is committed to responding to all applications.

May I find out who will be conducting my interview in advance?
All interviews are conducted by Hiring Board members who are experienced Assistant District Attorneys. You will be given the name of your
interviewer(s) at the time of your interview.

How long is the interview?
The interview is 30 minutes long, though we ask applicants to anticipate being at the office for an hour.

What will I need to bring to my interview?
An official law school transcript, a writing sample, and a list of three academic or professional references. We do not require letters of recommendation. Please click here for more information.

What if I have other offers and deadlines?
Please immediately inform the Legal Hiring Unit staff of any offers or deadlines you may receive during the interview process. We will make an effort to expedite your application in order to meet feasible deadlines.

Yes, if you are interested in working either part-time or full-time in the office's Complaint Room Complex, please click here for more information. Semester internships for academic credit are also available.
Where is the office located?
The office is located at One Hogan Place at the intersection of Centre Street and Leonard Street. The dedicated DANY entrance is on the south side of the Manhattan Criminal Court Building at 100 Centre Street. The Legal Hiring Unit is on the 8th floor in room 838.
